President Wanda Lenkewich Honored with SAME 2024 Technology Advancement Medal

Chinook is proud to announce that our President, Wanda Lenkewich, has been awarded the prestigious "Technology Advancement Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Technology" within the Cybersecurity Industry by the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) DC Post. This award recognizes Wanda's outstanding initiative in advancing cybersecurity technology in engineering through effective use of communication, teamwork, and cost savings.

Chinook Systems was honored to celebrate this achievement at the 29th Annual SAME DC Post Awards & Military Branch Service Awards on January 29 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. We spent a wonderful evening celebrating dedicated individuals and firms for their amazing contributions to the fields of architecture, engineering, construction, marketing and communications, and those who have exhibited distinguished service to the SAME DC Post, including young military and government civilian members, over the last year (2024).

SAME board member and host of the evening, Sally Clark, expressed the following during the awards presentation:

"Wanda's pioneering leadership in cybersecurity is reshaping how federal facilities protect their missions against cyber threats. Over the past several years, she has led the National Society's Cyber Security Industry-Government Engagement, working closely with both the Northern Virginia and Washington DC Posts under SAME's Resilience Community of Interest. Drawing on her private-sector expertise, Wanda devoted countless volunteer hours to standardize guidance to help engineers integrate cyber protections into the entire lifecycle of their projects. Through her collaboration with military services, OSD experts, and industry partners, she influenced federal policy updates that now include cyber commissioning processes. Her visionary contributions directly advance SAME's mission, ensuring more secure, resilient infrastructure for our nation's critical facilities."
